What is Pashmina Shawl?
Pashmina Shawl is a wonderful piece of wool and silk that is worked by sewing in pairs together, one from each color on the cloth, forming an intricate pattern, and keeping a clasp at each end of the shawl to fasten around the head, waist, or shoulders.
The shawl is an ancient technique of weaving. It is not very easy to learn at first, it is very time-consuming, and it takes many craftsmen and women around a lifetime to perfect, even with the latest technology and new techniques. Nevertheless, the people in some countries still use it.
I have recently received a few skeins of silk and wool yarn from Aussamah at Restrooms and Laundries in Oman. They also offered to knit me a pashmina shawl, as I asked for one since I told them about the silk I had received. So I also received some information on this famous and popular pashmina shawl.
I already knew it is a shawl which is given as a present, or sometimes just for decoration. Since it is so versatile and strong, it is also used for bed-wear, head-wear, and for painting, etc. It is an exclusive and beautiful thing for those who want to give a special present.
